into the mighty Serengeti, where close contact is frequent with
the elephants that roam the woodlands and vast plains stretching
below Klein's Camp. Interpretive bush walks climb into the stony
heights, sharing at close quarters this domain of the magnificent
black eagles that have nested here for centuries.
Wildlife:-
Tanzania offers exceptional game viewing. There is a diversity
of resident wildlife - look out for klipspringers on the kopjes
(rocky outcrops), as well as vast numbers of elephants in the
woodland. The Serengeti is home to wildebeest, zebra, gazelle,
eland, giraffe, huge lion prides, solitary leopard and some of
the highest densities of cheetah in Africa. Over 500 bird species
have been recorded in the park.
Klein's Camp lies in the path of the famous annual migration
of zebra and wildebeest on their migratory route across Tanzania
to Kenya's Maasai Mara. The migration passes by the camp during
the months of June to December each year with the camp providing
the migratory game a safe-haven, as it forms a natural buffer
zone between the Serengeti and local Maasai community farm-lands.
Frequent sitings in Tanzania include elephant,
buffalo, Grant's Gazelle, lion, leopard, wildebeest, Topi, Coke's
Hartebeest and eland. More than 350 different bird species have
been noted in and around Klein's, it's stony heights the domain
of magnificent black eagles that have nested here for centuries.
